The Biggest Drum Pulper in the World will be Installed by Betamet in Germany
Betamet’s three units are participating in the installation work of the paper machine supplied by Metso Paper for Propapier in Germany. A new factory will be built in Eisenhüttenstadt, near the border of Poland. After being ready for use, this biggest packing board factory in Germany can produce even 650 000 tons of linerboard and fluting board a year.
Metso and Betamet have a long-term cooperation behind them. Earlier in 2007, Betamet installed a papermaking line supplied by Metso, in the Plattling Papier factory in Germany. Betamet was praised by its end customers, especially for good care of work safety.
Big pulper in its performance and dimensions
Betamet’s part in this installation work is a demanding one - installation of the drum pulper for processing collection paperboard and cardboard, among others. The equipment weighs 280 tons, and its diameter is five meters and its length is 60 meters. The drum pulper breaks down collection paperboard to pulp and to be reused in papermaking processes.
In addition, the installation work consists of the feed system of recycling cardboard, mass processing, waste processing, six paper machine pulpers and two flotation basins. Betamet’s installation unit, Field Engineering, has 25 men in total, working in installations for Propapier. The installation work will be completed by December.
14 kilometres of pipes to be installed
This is the biggest installation contract that is going on in Betamet Automation Oy, so far. It consists of 14 000 meters of small pipelines of the paper machine, such as circulation lubrication and grease lubrication, as well as, in finishing treatment, a reeler, a tub sizing station, and all pipelines of a winder. In addition, the contract involves the pipelines of recycling cardboard and the grease, water and hydraulic pipelines of mass processing plants.
Presently, the circulation lubrication pipelines are being installed in the wet end and the dryer section of the paper machine. In November, we will be working on the finishing treatment side, and the installation contract will be ready before Christmas. At the moment, the strength on the site is 20 men.
Installations of air equipment progresses on schedule
The installation work consists, among other things, of the hood of the paper machine, and the installation of the heat recovery towers. Furthermore, the work includes the installation of the exhaust air equipment of the vacuum pumps, the reversible suspending dryer, the air equipment of OptiDry, the air equipment of runnability components of the dryer section, and the installation of the VacRoll air equipment.
There are 17 men, in total, from Betamet Airtech Oy working in the installation work of the dryer section. The installations are on schedule. The estimated time for the work is the middle of February, 2010.
