Betamet started a company in Germany

Betamet Oy and its subsidiary Betamet Service Oy, which operates in Central Finland, started Betamet GmbH in the Munich region in Germany in July. The new company reinforces Betamet's paper machine installation activities in Central Europe and supports the group's other activities in Europe as well.

One erecting supervisor and two fitters from Finland were transferred permanently to work for Betamet GmbH. In addition, ten fitters will be hired in Germany. German Magnus Ax started as Field Installation Manager in the beginning of August. Managing Director is Timo Kärki, who also continues as the Managing Director of Betamet Service in Finland. Beside office premises, the company has a fitting tool storage and transport equipment in Dachau.

Close to the end customer

Betamet GmbH focuses on short-term fitting and maintenance work. Location near the customers entails savings in travelling expenses and transport costs. A better service to machine and component manufacturers can be provided, including during the guarantee period.

– In addition to our own staff we will use the human resources of Betamet's units in Finland. We can also use certain Central European companies we know from previous projects as subcontractors, says managing director Timo Kärki.

Group CEO Juhani Blomqvist stresses that this new company will also allow recruiting staff for larger projects within the entire Europe.

Finnish labour competitive internationally

Betamet Oy specializes in machine installation projects and mechanical maintenance as well as workshops. The company operates in various locations throughout the world.

While other industrial companies transfer their activities to cheaper countries, Betamet exports Finnish workers, also to countries of cheap labour, such as Uruguay.

– Finnish labour is our competitive edge abroad. But we use also foreign workers in our projects, says Blomqvist.
