Kiruna pelletizing plant towards installation inspection
Betamet´s largest project in value terms ever is getting towards installation inspection in good pace. The mechanical installation agreement with Metso Minerals AB was signed last year in June and site operations were established in October 2006 to the Kiruna mine area.
The 80 percent degree of readiness was achieved in turn of the July to August which equals to 4000 tonne of mounted equipment. There is still some 1000 tonnes to be installed which consists mainly of air system equipment and ducts, in which, installation assistance is provided by Betamet’s subsidiary Betamet Airtech and its crew. At this point everybody is sweating to finalize the project. And being warm to sweat is also concretely necessary because the first snow covered the site already on Thursday 30.8!
The project has been very challenging mainly due to its geographical situation. We have considered it as a challenge to test our project management skills and also our project management system in practice in a large scale project. So far everything is carried out very smoothly and big thanks belong to our own staff and also to the local subcontractors, who have been a great help. Not forgetting also the good partnership spirit that has prevailed through the project between the customer organization and all the contractors.
Still last push to be made! Roughly two months, and we can be proud of accomplishment of this fine project.
